Solo Tabletop RPG Actual Play – Starforged: Nexus of Destiny Prologue

Introduction/Prologue
Act One
Act Two
Act Three

Introduction

So what is this? Instead of spreading a playthrough over weeks, I decided to do one that was one whole arc. I also wanted to continue with the story I’d established in my previous Starforged playthrough. I did have some elements in mind: I wanted a casino and mushroom-based aliens to be a part of it. Other than that, I had no idea where this story would go. I hope that it proves a little entertaining for you. I like exploring this universe and already have another installment planned for near the end of the year.

Prologue

Following Kei Becker’s defeat of the Skygge invaders at Lyra, it became a time to repair and rebuild. While Kei’s clever use of the over-clocked EMP grenade took out the Skygge Draugr vessel, it also disabled nearly every other ship stationed at Lyra and many of the non-vital systems. Technicians are working feverishly to get everything up and running while spaceport mechanics are overwhelmed with the number of fighters and transports that need to be towed in and the amount of rewiring necessary to get them functional again. Surprisingly, Kei’s ship, The Vigilant, was able to get back into fighting shape thanks to the prowess of the multi-limbed Jorruns Jeffries

The next few days gave Kei time to reflect on Rozhan Kane’s revelation: He came to Lyra to kill Lady Lila Thal. Kei is given access to his deceased brother’s former quarters on Lyra and can scan through the journals left behind. Tomo Becker wrote a lot while he was here, and Kei can tell his brother felt a devotion strong enough to Lady Thal that he turned against the United Planetary Alliance. Yet, Kei cannot find the answer to “why” in these writings. Rozhan has also been indisposed in the Bamiri Quarter of the station, so Kei can’t follow up on why Lady Thal would turn against everyone like he saw in the vision.

Because one of the two Old Imperium freighters was destroyed in the battle, the refugees need a new transport to help carry the other half of them. The UPA is planning an assault to reclaim the station based on intercepted & decrypted chatter being picked up. Lady Thal asks if Kei will use his ship, The Vigilant, to make the journey to find help. Kei will get to choose his crew.

He picks Jorruns, of course, always needing a good mechanic. Astrid Sutton refuses to let Kei go without her, feeling she owes him a great debt for helping her combat the mind control of Dreng Wraithus. Lady Thal suggests one of her Calugar (knights of the Mystic Order) go with them. She picks Saren Alerest, a Cherrin (bear-like humanoid), who is one of her most trusted advisors. She explains that Alerest is highly skilled at reading people, and this will come in handy in negotiations for a decommissioned vessel.

The closest and most lucrative destination is in the Solana Cluster. There is a Gakkadi Pleasure Station (casino resort) called Aurora that orbits the gas giant Tenzin. It’s widely known that Aurora is under the control of the Argala Cartel, one of many fungoid crime families from Gakkad. Many salvagers operate through the black markets in Aurora’s Underside district. Lady Thal concurs with her advisors that this is the most viable option to get a vessel large enough to transport one-half of the refugees.

Kei and his crew load onto The Vigilant and jump to lightspeed, unsure if they can find what is needed to save thousands of Old Imperium refugees, but determined to do their best…
