There’s continuous talk about “the United States sliding into fascism.” We are there. We’ve been there for a long time. Instead, you must realize you are becoming aware that America is a fascist construct to its roots. This has been made nakedly apparent with the rendition of Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University student who engaged in protest against the Palestinian genocide. If you think putting your head down and “getting through this” is an option, I hope you have the life you deserve.

Not only was Khalil a victim, the American intelligence apparatus is running a spying operation on students. This did not begin with Trump or even Biden. Tupac’s mother and Black Panther Assata Shakur famously caught feds in her own org, pushing to commit acts that would get them imprisoned.

The Department of Defense and Homeland Security are on the precipice of responding to a request if Trump should invoke the Insurrection Act. If you’re familiar with the famous Martin Niemöller poem, they will come for the Leftists and labor activists first before they start picking off you and your loved ones, if you aren’t a part of the former groups.

J.P. Hill reminds us why waiting for the tipping point is a death sentence. The US government has already kidnapped Khalil. If you wait for some undefined moment of action it will be too late.

You may have heard about California Governor Gavin Newsom’s (Democrat) newly launched podcast which appears to exist to launder fascist talking points based on his guest line up of such “luminaries” as Charlie Kirk and Steve Bannon, agreeing with the former about banning transgirls from sports. Newsom has always scared me because he’s traditionally handsome and holds incredibly regressive views while feigning otherwise as so many other Dems. Newsom has a long history of killing pro LGBTQ bills in the California legislature. The Democrats are collaborating with the fascists. That is crystal clear.

In slightly less overtly political news, but still tangential…

Christina Ricci has been making movies for nearly four decades. At her recent Walk of Fame Star ceremony, the actress talked about the dangers of letting the film industry be completely taken over by finance and how she wants Hollywood to return to being run by people who have some enjoyment and appreciation of film.

In tabletop RPGs there have been several safety tools created to try and make gaming spaces safer for all involved. Many of these are designed to avoid conversation about uncomfortable topics, but I don’t think those are universal tools. Jay Dragon, a game designer who is also a transwoman, shares her idea for a new safety tool that adds nuance and context. I really love her argument here about wanting to have gaming experiences where she gets to play out aspects of her own life, including the negative stuff.
